Boeckmann, was a Reich minister official, as well as serving alongside general Karl Eckhardt, the governor of Paris. Boeckmann's assignment was to collect paintings such as Renoir, to be sent to Germany as plunder, or destroy any inferior art, such as the "new modern art"or art that was considered inferior to the Nazi racial policy.

Boeckmann became aware that the French resistance in the south side of Paris under Margot Bonnaire, had begun attempts to assassinate him, thus causing him to increase the security protection around him, as well as after the death of general Lodar, this caused him to travel in a bullet proof limousine. When he was to leave Paris to the safety of Eckhardt's mansion he had the street he had to cross quarantined off to prevent any would-be assassins to get near. However while travelling past the Grand Palais, he was killed by Sean Develin, with a bazooka, Boeckmann's car went up in a massive explosion, however a speaker told that Boekmann may still be alive. This may not be true as he was never mentioned again.
