"This city has seen better days, but the ole girl hasn't lost her charm."
— Sean

Paris is the capital of France, and is the main location of the events of The Saboteur. The city is home to many major characters and features several famous landmarks and important installations.

Under heavy Nazi occupation, Sean must work with Resistance members stationed at various hidden headquarters around the city to fight back against occupying forces.

Paris is the largest urban environment in The Saboteur, built around the River Seine. The Nazi occupiers have divided the city up into 3 zones, with checkpoints controlling access between them.

Zone 1

Zone 1 highlighted on the map

This zone comprises of the most northern districts of the city, including areas such as Montmartre and La Villette. One of the city's main railway stations, the Gare de l'Est, is situated in this zone. Landmarks present in this zone include:

Zone 2

Zone 2 highlighted on the map

This zone contains the remaining districts north of the Seine and consists of mostly higher-wealth areas, including the famous Champs-Élysées and Musée du Louvre. The other main railway station of Paris, the Gare Saint-Lazare, is within this zone. Landmarks in this zone include:

Zone 3

Zone 3 highlighted on the map

This zone consists of all Parisian areas on the southern bank of the Seine, including the iconic Eiffel Tower. Other important landmarks such as Notre-Dame and the Panthéon can be found here.

The entirety of the River Seine within Parisian borders is considered a restricted zone, along with the Île de la Cité upon which Notre-Dame and the Conciergerie stand.

Access between zones and between Paris and the countryside is controlled via Nazi checkpoints, with gates and guards blocking both pedestrian and vehicle access. Sean must stop at these gates with appropriate papers and allow the guards to inspect them before access through the checkpoint is granted. Travel papers can be bought from Santos after progressing through the main storyline.

Sean can opt to drive through these checkpoints by smashing through the gates, though doing so will instantly raise an alarm. Checkpoints are also present at nearly all roads entering and exiting the city, though there is a road next to Sacré-Cœur that is not monitored by Nazi forces and as such allows free passage in and out of Paris.
